How the work actually goes

Most of our job sites have water on one side of them.

Lakefront trees do not come down into an open lot. They come down between a deck, a dock, a boat lift and the neighbour's roof, which is why the rigging goes up before the saw comes out and why the crew talks the whole cut through before anyone climbs.

Twenty five years on this lake

We have been cutting trees around the Lake of the Ozarks since 1999.

Family owned and operated the whole time, with a highly trained staff carrying forty years of experience between them. Everyone on a Colt crew is trained to Tree Care Industry Association standards, and the company carries both general liability and workman’s compensation, so nothing that happens in your yard lands on your policy.

Where we work
Camden County and Morgan County: Camdenton, Osage Beach, Lake Ozark, Sunrise Beach, Laurie, Gravois Mills and the communities around them.
Who we answer to
Members of the Tree Care Industry Association, the International Society of Arboriculture and the Camden County Chamber of Commerce.
What an estimate costs
Nothing. We come out and look at the tree in person, and we can usually have one on the calendar inside a week.
What we will not do
Top a tree. It is one of the most harmful pruning practices there is, so we will talk you through crown reduction or removal instead.

One job, start to finish

A new homeowner, a dead tree against the house, and a crew that talked it through first.

Nina Smith had just bought the place. The tree was not a maybe. This is her account of how it went, left on Google after the crew had packed up.

  1. A Colt Tree Service climber working inside the canopy of a large bare oak

    Before a single cut

They assessed it as a team.

“I'm a new home owner and had a massive dead tree so close to my house, non negotiable it had to be brought down. They assessed before making any cuts to make sure they knew exactly what to do as a team.”

  2. A Colt Tree Service climber mid cut on a large limb, roped in

    The removal

Kind, efficient and safe the whole way down.

“Colt Tree Services did a fantastic job. Z and his team were kind, efficient and safe the entirety of the removal.”

  3. A Colt Tree Service ground crew clearing cut branches from a lakeside lawn

    After the truck left

They came back and brushed the grass up.

“Afterwards they cleaned up and were so detailed oriented they even came and brushed my grass back up from the mats they used to move about the yard. Would highly recommend and hire again should the need arise!”

Before you call

The questions we get asked on nearly every estimate.

If yours is not here, the office is open Monday to Friday, eight to five, and the emergency line runs the rest of the time.

Call (573) 347-3330

No. Estimates are free and we come out and look at the tree in person. We can usually get one on the calendar within a week.

No. Topping is one of the most harmful pruning practices there is, so we don't do it at any price. If a tree has outgrown its spot we'll talk to you about crown reduction, thinning or removal instead.

We grind it six to eight inches below grade so you can replant grass over the top. We locate utility lines before the grinder starts, and unless you tell us to leave them, the grindings and any debris above grade go with us.

Call us. Emergency tree service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we'll send someone out as soon as we can, usually within the day. That covers a tree on a home, a car, a boat, a driveway, or on a neighbour's property.

Yes. We carry general liability and workman's compensation, and our staff is trained to Tree Care Industry Association standards. We're members of the Tree Care Industry Association, the International Society of Arboriculture and the Camden County Chamber of Commerce.

Only when the tree is being removed. If a tree is staying, our climbers work it without spikes, because spike wounds stay with a living tree for the rest of its life.

We show up on the date we scheduled, weather permitting. Tree work in the wrong weather is how people get hurt, so if we have to move a day we'll call you rather than leave you waiting.
